Chris Branscum Announces Run for Marysville Mayor, 2020

MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Chris Branscum, a retired businessman with a wide range of experience as a senior operating executive and in finance, announced that he will run for the office of Mayor of Marysville in the November General election.
Branscum was raised in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School – class of 1967. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a Control Tower Watch Supervisor at the Alameda Naval Air Station.
Following service in the Navy, Branscum returned to Marysville to earn an AA Degree at Yuba College and a BS Degree at California State University Sacramento. He went on to join a leading CPA firm and after earning CPA certification earned a Juris Doctor Degree at University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
In his career he has worked at a high level with commercial and government entities, provided legal counsel to families and businesses, managed investments in emerging companies and led a technology company from 7 employees and zero revenue to more than 100 employees and $50 million in profitable revenue.
“I believe the breadth of my experience will translate well in leading Marysville to success and a better quality of life. Experience has taught me that success is all about recognizing and taking the greatest advantage of today’s opportunities and at the same time positioning for success on future opportunities,” stated Branscum.
“I’ve been meeting with fellow citizens to hear their concerns and suggestions for improving life in Marysville, whether it’s about the highway traffic that burdens our city, the homeless issue, re-invigorating the business climate or improving infrastructure and our public spaces.
“Though there are clearly problems that need to be dealt with, there are success models in Marysville that we can focus and build on – success breeds and attracts success. Success improving life and prosperity in Marysville can do everything from improving property values to enhancing our overall feeling of well-being.
“Though my career took me elsewhere, I have always regarded Marysville as home. I have life-long friends here. For the past two years I have been renovating a home on an address that was on my Appeal Democrat paper route when I was 13. My sister, Sherree, lives here. My youngest son, Clark, farms rice and olives in the Spring Valley area of Yuba County and for the past 40 years I have been a partner in a rice farm in District 10. My oldest son, Dean who lives in Watsonville, is also a partner in that rice farm.”
Branscum’s family owned and operated Bossen Laundry and Linen Supply, was a prominent fixture in Marysville and the surrounding area from 1920 until 2005.
