Les Schwab Tournament
MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Marysville Indians boys’ basketball team finished fourth in their Les Schwab Tournament as they went 1-2 overall from Thursday, November 30 through Saturday, December 2.
Marysville easily took care of Williams on the opening night of the Les Schwab Tournament with a dominant 86-35 victory where the game essentially done in the first half as the Indians had a sizable lead that was too far apart for anyone to come back from.

Marysville head coach Stan Easter expressed to the Dispatch that his team is where he expected them to be at. He told the Dispatch that the addition of most of his roster coming from football season is still working towards getting back into basketball shape.
Indians junior guard Dennis Syders is the main one to bring the ball up the floor as his role changed from last season as a defensive specialist to point guard this season.
Syders told the Dispatch the transition is a work in progress but he is confident that he will be comfortable with the ball in his hands. In the opening game versus Williams, Syders shot 70% from the field as most of his points came from lay-ups from fast break opportunities.

The Indians fell consecutive nights to Las Plumas 61-56 and Pleasant Grove 76-58 to end up in fourth place overall.
Marysville hosted Orestimba and West Campus this past Tuesday and Wednesday evening, and they will host future Pioneer Valley League newcomer Lincoln on Monday, December 11.

56th Annual Pierce Tournament
Sutter
ARBUCKLE, CA (MPG) - The Sutter Huskies boys’ basketball team finished third in the 56th Annual Pierce Tournament from Wednesday, November 29 through Friday, December 1 with a 2-1 record.
Sutter beat Dixon on the opening day and then lost a nail biter to a competitive Ukiah team 54-50 last Thursday before they easily took care of Pierce 68-27 to take third place.
Huskies head coach Nabeel Bhatti told the Dispatch that they are still working all of the football players back into basketball shape. Bhatti added that in the Ukiah game, Sutter was down one point in the final 30 seconds and Ukiah hit a three-point basket to take a four-point lead with two seconds on the game clock.
Huskies senior forwards Naseem Bhatti and Jagger Beck made the All-Tournament Team. Sutter traveled to Roseville and played at
Oakmont and hit the road again tonight as they travel down to play Escalon at 7:30 p.m.
West Park Tournament
River Valley
ROSEVILLE, CA (MPG) - The River Valley Falcons boys’ basketball team went winless in the West Park tournament that was played from Thursday, November 30 through Saturday, December 2.
River Valley had a tough draw in the tournament as they played Monte Vista and Chico, who both had deep playoff runs in the 2022-23 season.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Falcons as they compete in the Mel Good Tournament at Yuba City this weekend versus Chico, Pleasant Valley of Chico and Marin Academy of San Rafael.
