YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The premier sports conditioning and training regiment for Yuba-Sutter County expanded itself into the community on Saturday, January 13, as GRIND:30 opened a new facility in the Yuba City area.
Michio Takahashi, the owner and founder of GRIND:30, opened and showed off the new 1500 sq. foot facility in front of family and friends as he moved the business from his garage at his home.
Takahashi told the Dispatch he is able to comfortably accommodate about 15-20 athletes per workout session, which doubles the amount he was able to do previously at his home base.
The amenities and specs of the new facility include brand new gym equipment donated by multiple donors throughout the community, a one-person steam room, a cold tub, multiple squat racks/benches and an upstairs loft to hangout in between sessions.
The inside artwork flourishes the walls featuring a male and female GRIND:30 athlete, and an accent wall that has tribal/floral designs which was handcrafted by Takahashi’s spouse/biggest supporter, Alyssa.
Alyssa, who is a local art teacher, expressed to the Dispatch that Michio comes up with the ideas and she connects the dots and brings it all together.
Alyssa told the Dispatch that the gorilla designs for the GRIND:30 athletes were designed by her students, and the accent wall addition of the flowers was a way for her to bring a representation of male and female in the project.
Michio is grateful for the endless support of Alyssa and all of the community that has positively backed his vision of helping the youth in the community.
“It’s gratifying. I have done endless hours of volunteer work mentoring and coaching and to get the continuous backing of the community: I know what I’m doing is right,” Michio said.
In true family fashion, as everyone in the GRIND:30 family treats one another, it was a big family celebration that featured delicious food, happy smiles and lots of laughter.

Friends and family gather at the new GRIND:30 facility located in Yuba City on Saturday, January 13.
Jennifer White, who is a friend of Michio and has an athlete currently training with him, told the Dispatch that her son has grown because of Michio’s work ethic and dedication.
White added the dedication is just not about working out as Michio does grade checks with all of his athletes.
“He checks in and it’s good because it’s not just about working out,” White said. “It’s about their relationship and their future.”
White’s son Justice, Sutter 2026 running back, told the Dispatch that on top of everything Michio does, when he comes out and supports his athletes at their games, it makes them happy to see.
“It shows that he takes the time to learn every one of his athletes and shows that he cares about his athletes outside of working out,” Justice said.
The new GRIND:30 facility is located at 1282 Hassett Ave. Space #7, Yuba City, CA 95991. To contact Michio, his social medias are Instagram: grind_30, X(formerly Twitter): @grind_30.
