YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Officer Steven DeNeef joined the Yuba City Police Department on June 22, 2019, as a police officer. Officer DeNeef assumed the assignment of traffic officer on December 17, 2022. In addition to being a traffic officer, Officer DeNeef completed the Drug Recognition Expert course in 2023 and is the department’s lead trainer for First Aid/CPR and TCCC. Officer DeNeef has earned a reputation as an approachable officer who is hardworking, fun, and dedicated.

Within the Yuba City Police Department, Officer DeNeef has earned respect for being one of the most positive, committed, and team-orientated members of our department. Officer DeNeef is always seen with a smile on his face, and greets everyone with his signature, “What’s up, buddy!” Officer DeNeef has consistently demonstrated a level of commitment to the organization that goes above and beyond “just doing your job.” He is always willing to help anyone and is quick to praise others for their solid work. Officer DeNeef brightens the mood of anyone he interacts with and has a genuine desire to help others. Officer DeNeef not only shows his positivity and compassion for humans, but was credited with saving the life of a furry canine who ingested his owners’ illegal substances in 2023. Officer DeNeef can be counted on to help anyone.

During 2023, Officer DeNeef trained and completed Motor School and was the number one rider in his class. Motor School is one of, if not the most difficult training an officer will attend in their career. To be the number one in your class is a significant feat and brings great credit to Officer DeNeef and the Yuba City Police Department. Officer DeNeef’s commitment to the values and mission of our department and his support for co-workers, animals, and our community is inspiring and truly exemplifies the spirit of our organization.

As such, it is fitting that Officer Steven DeNeef receive the Yuba City Police Department Spirit Award for 2023.
