LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - The 2024 Little League Minor Softball Tournament season kicked off on Monday, June 10, as 13 local LL organizations attempted to conquer the District 2 championship.

The Sutter Area LL had a first-round bye in the tournament and was dominant in their three games on the way to the championship that was scheduled to be played on Tuesday, June 18.

All four local LL organizations (Sutter Area, Peach Bowl, Sutter Buttes and Live Oak) made it to the second round of the double-elimination tournament.

Sutter Buttes LL was sent home by Colusa LL on Friday, June 14, and Colusa continued the trend as they ended Peach Bowl’s time in the tournament in a long heartbreaking game on Saturday, June 15.

Sutter Area and Live Oak met one another on June 15 for a spot in the championship game.

LOLL was up 1-0 after the first inning after they scored the run off of a passed ball.

That was all LOLL was able to do as it was all SALL for the rest of the night.

SALL added eight runs from the third through sixth in the victory. In the loss, LOLL still had an opportunity to win District 2 as they played the winner of Colusa LL/South Sutter LL on Monday, June 17.

SALL needed to win one game between this past Tuesday and Wednesday to move onto the Section tournament.
