SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The Sutter Huskies ruled their homecoming and first league game against the Woodland Wolves on Friday, Sept. 20.
On a night when homecoming king and queen were crowned, the Sutter Huskies started the game about as strong as a team can with a 48-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Braden Scritchfield on their first offensive play of the game. The Huskies then ran a trick play for a two-point conversion and within two minutes of the game starting, the score was 8-0.

That proved to be a trend of the game as the Huskies forced a quick three and out on defense and only took three plays to score another touchdown with another trick play to make the score 16-0. The Woodland Wolves came back on offense and had life for the one and only time, starting the drive off with a huge run down the right sideline. They then pounded the ball with senior running back Diego Bautista and eventually scored a touchdown completely quieting the Sutter crowd and making the score 16-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The silence from the Sutter crowd was short-lived and quickly rose back to a roar as the Huskies once again moved down the field and scored. The Huskie defense then proved the long scoring drive from the Wolves was just a one-time thing as they forced a punt or turnover on the rest of the Wolves drives.

The Huskies bounced back from suffering their first loss of the season and showed out for their homecoming crowd with a crushing 60-6 win over the Wolves. They will look to continue their winning ways against the Rams at Dixon High School while the Woodland Wolves will look to get their first win of the season at home against the Casa Roble Rams. Both games are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27 after press time.
