YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - This November and December, The Acting Company in Yuba City invites the community to experience the magic of live theater with its Holiday production of “Matilda the Musical,” running from Nov. 8 through Dec. 15.
Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. Unloved by her cruel parents, Matilda decides to try and impress her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life however isn't completely smooth sailing due to Miss Trunchbull, the school's mean headmistress who hates children and loves to punish those who do not abide by her rules.
Will Matilda be able to change her destiny and bring justice to both her school and community? Audiences can find out starting this weekend at The Acting Company.
“Matilda,” directed by Foster McManus, sports a cast of nearly 30 community members, starring Katherine Nelson as Matilda Wormwood, Samuel Madrid as Ms. Trunchbull, Amanda Stentzel as Miss Honey, Kelly Cunningham as Mrs. Wormwood, Sam Scott as Mr. Wormwood, Tommy Lisenby as Bruce and Grace Paustian as Lavender.
