MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - On Saturday Nov. 30, the number two seeded Sutter High Huskies took on the number one seeded Hughson High Huskies for the 2024 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division Five playoff championship.

The game was played under a sunny midday sky at the neutral site of historic Hughes Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College. The matchup started off slowly with no scoring in the first quarter but ratcheted-up from there into a real dog fight with a dramatic finish. The Sutter Huskies had the lead at halftime 15-8, but unfortunately for the Sutter High faithful, the Hughson Huskies came out on top with a final score of 30-29, thanks to a successful two-point conversion in the final seconds of the game.

The Sutter High Huskies made their way to the Divion 5 playoff championship game by beating the Oakmont Vikings on Nov. 15 and the Lathrop Spartans from Manteca, on Nov 22.  Both of those playoff games were hosted at Sutter Union High Stadium.
