Pelletier Swings to a Career Round

CHICO, CA (MPG) - Chico
State women's golfer Brooke Pelletier turned in her best score in her
collegiate career as the junior carded a 3-over 74 in the second and final
round of the Cal State LA Spring Kickoff at the Rio Hondo Golf Club on Tuesday,
Feb. 4.
A Chico native who hailed from Pleasant Valley High School, Pelletier's second
round score leaped her 11 spots to a five-way tie for 22nd out
of 86 participants. The Wildcats as a team finished 14th out of
16 despite finishing 33-over par, a 10-stroke improvement from Monday's first
round.
Pelletier had a spectacular outcome in the back-9, finishing 2-under
highlighted with three birdies and five pars. She made four birdies in the
front to close out her day.
Trinity Hernandez and Hollyn Drennen both had 80 scores in their second trip
through the course. Hernandez made par in 11 holes while Drennen achieved two
birdies and came up even nine times.
Ariana Blagrove made a pair of birdies as she scored an 83 and Alexis Elliot
rounded out the 'Cats with an 88.
Cal State San Marcos ended up taking the tournament win by finishing 22-over in
the two rounds. Cal State Monterey Bay's Tilda Kvarnrud won individual medalist
honors as the only participant to make par.
The Wildcats' spring tour continues February 24-25, when they will play in Cal
State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park (North) in
Alameda.
