YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The Yuba-Sutter community is coming together once again for Yuba-Sutter Shines, a community-wide day of action dedicated to fostering pride, volunteerism and a brighter future for the Yuba-Sutter region. It will take place from 7:30 a.m. to noon April 26 at Gauche Aquatic Park, 421 C St. in Yuba City.

This year’s event, which coincides with National Volunteer Month, is a special opportunity to give back and create a lasting impact in the Yuba-Sutter community.

Organized through a collaborative partnership between SayLove, Blue Zones Project Yuba Sutter, JustServe, Keep California Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful and California Volunteers, Yuba-Sutter Shines invites residents to roll up their sleeves and get involved in meaningful service projects.

From revitalizing public spaces to lending a helping hand to local organizations, there is something for everyone to contribute.

The day’s activities will begin at Gauche Aquatic Park, where volunteers will gather before heading out to various service sites across the community.

One of the standout projects this year is a garden installation at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Blue Zones Project Yuba-Sutter’s very first faith-based participating organization.

This garden will not only serve as a space for growing fresh produce, but also as a gathering point for community members to connect, share and nourish each other in both body and spirit.

“We’re thrilled to be part of something so impactful,” said Tiffany Holleck, pastor to the People of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. “This garden is a symbol of growth, both literally and metaphorically. It’s where we can cultivate relationships, grow healthy food, and create a space for connection and community. It’s a perfect example of what it means to support one another.”

With over 12 projects from local schools, organizations and agencies, Yuba-Sutter Shines is set to be a collaborative effort that showcases the strength of the collective’s commitment to positive change.

From environmental improvements to offering support to local nonprofits, there is no limit to the good that can be done when the community comes together.

“Yuba-Sutter Shines highlights the power of volunteering to create lasting change,” said Blue Zones Project Executive Director Marni Sanders. “Volunteerism brings people together to build a stronger, more connected community. Every contribution, whether planting in the garden or helping at a partner site, adds to the spirit of Yuba-Sutter.”

SayLove’s Executive Director Amanda Husted echoed this sentiment, adding, “Yuba-Sutter Shines shows the strength of collective action. We’re proud to be part of this effort to give back and create lasting change.”

JustServe’s commitment to effecting a change in our community mirrors this vision, as Heather Eberle, JustServe coordinator for the Yuba, Sutter and Colusa areas, shares, “This is the time for all of us to roll up our sleeves and make a difference. Volunteer work has the power to unite us, build lasting connections, and create a positive impact on our community. We’re excited to be part of this amazing effort.”

Yuba-Sutter Shines will be a true reflection of the spirit of the region, a celebration of volunteerism, connection and community pride. We invite all local residents to join Yuba-Sutter Shines in this powerful day of action, making a tangible difference in our neighborhoods.
