SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - As families head to local waterways for the unofficial start of summer, the Sutter County Children & Families Commission is reminding residents that free children’s life jackets are available for day use at several Life Jacket Loaner Stations throughout the county.

The loaner stations are stocked with children’s life jackets to help keep young swimmers safe while enjoying local rivers, boat launches and recreation areas. Families may borrow a life jacket for the day and return it to the same station when finished. The life jackets are intended for temporary use only and should not be taken home.

The program is provided in partnership with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office as part of a community water safety effort.

Life Jacket Loaner Stations are located at Feather River Parkway, Live Oak Boat Launch, Tisdale Boat Launch and Verona Marina.

Community members are encouraged to use the loaner stations responsibly and help ensure the life jackets remain available for other families throughout the summer.

“Let’s work together to keep our community safe and make every splash a safe one this summer,” the commission said in its announcement.
