Sports Association Announces Hall of Fame Inductees

YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Northern California Sports Association will recognize nine athletes, coaches and community contributors during its 52nd Annual Golden Anniversary Induction Ceremony on June 6 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Yuba City.
The annual event honors individuals whose accomplishments and service have left a lasting mark on athletics throughout Northern California. The ceremony will bring together athletes, coaches, family members and community leaders to celebrate the 2026 Hall of Fame class.
Among this year's inductees is Bob Randolph, recognized for his achievements as a pitcher in American Legion Baseball, the Bellingham Mariners program and the Lynn Sailors professional baseball organization. Randolph also earned recognition for his contributions to baseball throughout Northern California and beyond.
Pete Bender will be honored for a career spanning more than five decades as a professional golf caddie. Beginning on the PGA Tour in 1969, Bender worked alongside some of golf's most notable players, including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Raymond Floyd, Lanny Wadkins, Ian Baker-Finch and Hal Sutton. His career included major championship victories and dozens of PGA Tour wins.
Mike Plaustian, a 1974 graduate of Marysville High School, will be inducted for his accomplishments as a multi-sport athlete and standout baseball player. He later served as a professional scout for the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers and contributed to player development as a coach and evaluator.
Other inductees include Ron Centerwall of Yuba City, a standout athlete in football, basketball and baseball who competed at the University of San Francisco; John Ithurburn, longtime football coach and educator at Yuba City High School; Joe McCarron, former Yuba College basketball coach and athletic director; Roy Crabtree, a longtime Wheatland educator and coach; and Les Kuhnz, a Sacramento State athlete who helped lead the Hornets to the 1961-62 NAIA National Championship game and later played professional baseball in the Angels organization.
The association will also recognize Bonnie Magill of Yuba City for her support of agricultural education and youth scholarship programs, including the Margery Magill Memorial Scholarship benefiting FFA and 4-H students in Yuba and Sutter counties.
In addition to the Hall of Fame inductions, the Faith Christian volleyball and basketball teams will be recognized for their athletic achievements. The association will also present scholarships to several Northern California student-athletes.
The event begins with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and the induction program at 6 p.m. The evening will include formal presentations, guest speakers, historical tributes and recognition of family members, teammates and supporters.
The Northern California Sports Association said its mission is to preserve and celebrate the region's athletic history while honoring individuals whose leadership, accomplishments and dedication have shaped Northern California sports.
